The December From Hell

Wow, I cannot WAIT for 2012.  December has been a rough, rough, ROUGH month for this girl!  I really struggled this month with the fact that I haven't gotten pregnant yet.  It makes me feel worthless.  It makes me lose sight of how amazing my life is.  It makes my husband think I no longer love him.  It makes my life a m-e-s-s!

Yesterday, Kol and I had to trade both of our cars for one in order to lower our debt-to-income ratio.  So, we are now the proud owners of a 2012 Honda CR-V EX-LR:

This is Tate Xander.  Love him.

The reason we need to lower our DTI is to get into our dream house.  We're currently in a bidding war.  Please pray that they accept our offer if it's God's will!

On the baby side of things, I went to the gyno yesterday.  The did an ultrasound and all of my lady parts look healthy.  My ovarian follicles were a bit on the small side, which lead him to believe I may not be ovulating properly, so he gave me a prescription for Clomid.  Hopefully we'll be pregnant by February!  If not, Kol and I have decided to adopt.  I'm super-excited about the prospect of having a child!!!

Finding Myself

I would like to get real with y'all this morning.  I have always struggled a bit with my sexuality.  Don't get me wrong: I'm crazy about my husband and have been since the moment I met him.  But even as a child, I was sexually curious about girls.  Who isn't?  I believe everyone is a bit bi-curious but just might not be comfortable enough to admit it.  I'm going to go ahead and say today that I am occasionally attracted to a woman.  I would never pursue it beyond an innocent kiss on the mouth, but that doesn't change the fact that it's there.  It exists.  And I don't want to hide it any more.

I grew up in a very conservative community in Indiana.  Racism and homophobia run rampant.  I never felt like I fit there, and that's why I moved away as soon as I could.  The worst feeling EVER is not being able to be true to yourself, and I never felt I was able to just be me in Indiana.

Judge me if you will, but that's not your place.  I know who I am.  I love who I am.  And God loves me no matter what you think.

Let's Be Honest

I'm'a interrupt the thankful posts for a second and fill y'all in.  Be prepared; it's about to get real.  I haven't had my period for 6.5 months....up until yesterday.  I spent the last few months going to the doctor trying to figure out what my deal was (because, after all, we are trying to make a baby, and you can't really do that without ovulating...); he had NO CLUE.  Granted, I do get depressed over the summer (it happens every year), but I've never skipped more than one period in my life.  So, I stopped going to the doctor and just started praying.  He heard me.  I am blessed.  I feel happy and healthy!  My goal is to be pregnant by Christmas.  Please, please, PLEASE keep praying for us; I don't know where I'd be without the power of prayer!

Thankful, Day One

It's November, and that means my favorite holiday is right around the corner: Thanksgiving!  In honor of that, I'm going to take the time to be thankful for something every day of the month.

Today, I'm thankful for lazy nights where I can cuddle with my husband on the couch.

Patience is a Virtue

Praying until words no longer make sense,
and still I'm left waiting.
The time will be right;
in HIS time, it will be
everything I've hoped for,
nothing less.
Can it happen sooner, Lord?
Everyday I ask.  And ask.  And ask.

Is it possible to want something
so much it hurts?

Asking, begging, needing.

Vacant
is my womb,
ready and willing
to receive the greatest gift.
Understanding has set in.
Everything will turn out fine.

Back Home Again in Indiana

Kolin and I got to head home the weekend after New Year's.

2 hours in
We spent the night at Mama's on the way:

Once we got to Logan, we ate lunch at China Lane with the Halls (SO delicious).  Then we spent some time with Mia:

who is getting SO BIG!

Jeremy, Mandy, Kolin, and I headed to Beef & Boards in Indianapolis to see The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and had a ton of fun; the show was really hilarious, and I even got to be part of the show!  Afterward, we watched the rest of the Colts game (let me rephrase that: we watched the Colts lose, then proceeded to get drunk and play Catchphrase) at a friend's house with many of Ball State's finest:

We spent the next day with the Morris clan:

And that night we had dinner with the Fallens and got to meet Quinn:

Monday it was time to head back, but first we got to meet Dylan:

Sidenote: he's going to make a great dad!

The drive was fine...

  5 hours in this time!

...until we got to NC and it turned TREACHEROUS: freezing rain and snow.  So, it took us 17 hours instead of 13. :'(  But we made it unscathed...just sleepy.

2011, What?!

Whoa.  Amy came to ring in the new year with us, and it was a FUN weekend!  Her first full day here Friday the 31st), we enjoyed a bit of downtown Savannah:

we took in the sights...

and generally acted like goofy tourists.

After dinner at a tasty Thai place, Kolin had to go home and sleep (lame) while Amy and I joined a few of my favorite gays and ladies at Club One for some drag action:

RAH RAH AH AH AH, etc.

 Lookin' hot.

Her final full day here (Sunday), we slept in (that was nice), then did some more strolling, and made sure to make the most of her Savannah experience:

 brunch at Clary's,

a photo opp. at The Pirate's House,

a walk through Colonial Park Cemetery,

 pizza at Vinnie's,

 a stop at the beach,

 dinner at Uncle Bubba's,

 and a haunted tour!

I loved every minute of it and can't wait for her to return!
